Lahinch on the west coast is the more approachable of Ireland's two best-known addresses: a bay with a sand beach that, on calm days, is considerably gentler than the exposed reefs nearby. That makes it one of the few places in Ireland where surfing with little experience is realistic — with due care, and after asking locally.
